Whitney

The #1 reason I keep up with a blog is to keep track of my own memories. #2 For the family to see what the kids are up to. With that said I want to note that Whitney Houston's death has sadden me deeply. When I was a child I loved her and growing up Uncle Larry took us to see her in concert a few times. It seems that so many of her songs are tied to my "life memories". How Will I Know? was my very favorite song in the fifth grade. I had a little crush on someone with red hair and freckles and that song always takes me back to when I was 10. I Will Always Love You is another favorite and it reminds me of friends and loved ones that I've lost and will always love. Step By Step is an amazing stretch song that is played at Barnabas. I can still remember my friend Laurie dancing to it 7 years ago. Queen of the Night is awesome to hear in concert. WOW! My all time favorite Whitney song is My Love is Your Love. I think it speaks for itself. I've copied the lyrics below.

The other part of Whitney's death that hurts my heart is that she died in great pain. Maybe she wasn't in physical pain but obviously emotional. She struggled with addictions, divorce, loss, and the pressures of stardom. My Dad's issues weren't the same and Whitney's death has not been ruled a suicide. Any time a younger person dies needlessly due to depression or related issues it hits me at the core. It's a part of me that will most likely always be there.

I'll always love Whitney and am grateful for her special music and talent. I just know she's up there singing in Heaven. RIP Miss Whitney. You are missed.

If tomorrow is judgment day (Sing Mommy)
And I'm standing on the front line
And the Lord asks me what I did with my life
I will say I spent it with you

If I wake up in World War III
I see destruction and poverty
And I feel like I want to go home
It's okay if you're coming with me

'Cause your love is my love
And my love is your love
It would take an eternity to break us
And the chains of Amistad couln't hold us
'Cause your love is my love
And my love is your love
It would take an eternity to break us
And the chains of Amistad couln't hold us

If I lose my fame and fortune
And I'm homeless on the street
And I'm sleeping in Grand Central Station
It's okay if you're sleeping with me

As the years they pass us by
We stay young through each other's eyes
And no matter how old we get
It's okay as long as I got you baby

'Cause your love is my love
And my love is your love
It would take an eternity to break us
And the chains of Amistad couldn't hold us
'Cause your love is my love
And my love is your love
It would take an eternity to break us
And the chains of Amistad couldn't hold us

If I should die this very day
Don't cry, 'cause on Earth we weren't meant to stay
And no matter what the people say
I'll be waiting for you after the judgment day

'Cause your love is my love
And my love is your love
It would take an eternity to break us
And the chains of Amistad couldn't hold us
'Cause your love is my love
And my love is your love
It would take an eternity to break us
And the chains of Amistad couldn't hold us
